I definitely agree with you, Frank! There definitely are some people who "Jesus Juke" to make themselves seem better than the other person. But I genuinely believe, like you, that there are people who are just trying to express concern or confront their brothers and sisters in sin. And right on about the definition of holiness. Great post, bro!

lol .. You just Jesus Juked Jesus Jukes .... That's kind of impressive actually. But I hear what you're saying.

It's funny. I think when Acuff penned the term (I am assuming he penned it), it was a humorous/satirical way to look at a serious problem - Christians acting prideful. However, it has somehow morphed to become more of an intentional pun. In the end, we always need to be striving for balance.

Awesome post ... First let me be the grammar police .... "Are Damn and Hell Cuss Words?" ;)

I think the verses you cite are spot on with this subject. In the end our speech is not so much about whether or not we use words deemed by our culture to be curses, it's about whether our speech is building each other up. I can only imagine a couple of instances where a cuss word may be appropriate for communicating a point effectively to a person who would be "built up" by that conversation .... and even then, the cuss word would not be a necessity.

Here's an interesting scenario .... Pastor's letting a "Hell" or "crap" slip out in the "cussing context" during a sermon. Is that understandable? Offensive? Being done to too large an audience?

(btw .. I don't know whether to reply here or on Facebook, so I put this reply in both places.)
